When change ripples like algae
On the tops of dark woodland ponds,
Destroying the homes and streets of frogs.
We know that opportunity is near.
When trials beat like winds,
In harsh hurricane weather,
Breaking trees and flowers and heather.
We know that opportunity is near.
When hope opens like little birds,
In springtime and they begin to sing,
Or fly over the ponds and algae green.
We know that opportunity is new.
Even when nothing comes like sun
Over the hot desert sand and stones,
Bringing nothing new or old.
We know that opportunity is near.
