To Hypocrisy – A Poem by Kelly D. Tolman
Posted by admin on November 1, 2010
To Hypocrisy
To hypocrisy.
That’s me.
I can sit and spin a yarn
About doing no harm
To another’s soul.
Or cast a kind glance
At another’s mischance
And nod, remorseful.
Truss up a word of advice
Bound , gagged and tied
Just to be helpful.
But if the word isn’t belief
I slink dangerous as a thief
After your soul.
For ideas all can change.
With time be re-arranged,
As passions grow cold.
My mind wrongs a right,
Oft times takes delight,
In corrupting your goals.
But that’s me,
Hypocrisy.

I like this — it has an isidious voice that matches the words — slink dangerous as a thief after your soul. Corrupting your goals — and pulls it all together so well.
