University Life – A Poem by Kelly D. Tolman
Posted by admin on November 10, 2010
Dank windows,
Skin tight jeans.
The college scene.
Old buildings mix
With new dreams,
But nobody seems
To know where they lead.
Some guess. Some hope.
Some follow a rope
Of thought or a slope
Sliding back to the poor
House they crawled from.
Blank windows,
Busy sidewalks
Leading to talks
And bored chalk
Full of
Philosophy or
Statistics, methods
Designed to take
Or break
You to a future
You can’t speak
Or see.
Out these
Fine windows
Of life
And skin
Tight jeans.

Susan Helene Gottfried said,
You know what’s funny? This totally evokes graduate school for me, not the undergrad years. Which is when my jeans were definitely tighter!
