Dwalin
Prince and king, Dwalin rules without ring
Or magic guide. The dwarves of Erebor
Where mithril shines and hardened hammer sings
The happy songs at the dwarven forge.
Dwalin son of Fundin, lord after the battle
Where elves and dwarves and men and eagles
Routed orcs and goblins; chased them like cattle
To their dark, unwholesome caves and evil.
Never to Sauron would he pay heed,
Never to the dark eye though he plead,
Not for the price of a golden ring,
Not though Sauron would make him king.
